Tools for Teaching Others about
Wheelchair Transportation Safety!
A primary objective of the WTS project is to share information with our stakeholder groups. We have assembled resources that will be useful to you as you teach others. We will continue to add PowerPoint presentations, videos, handouts, brochures, bookmarks and other resources that will help you teach others.

Download: The Wheelchair Crash Test Video
We compiled each of the videos of wheelchair crash testing that are shown on this site (A Look at Wheelchair Crash Testing). We made them into one continuous DVD. Each individual video is labled and shows either misuse or proper use of wheelchair securement straps, occupant restraints and the contribution of a WC19-compliant wheelchair. As you will see below, we now have these videos of the "Sled Test Series on Correct Use and Misuse" in multiple video formats and at several quality levels.
Here is some guidance for viewing the videos below:
-
A browser feature called ActiveX must be enabled in order to allow viewing videos.
-
If your computer is within a secure network (i.e., at a school, hospital or corporate office) the system administrator may restrict downloading and playing movies. You may need to get technical assistance to by-pass restrictions in order to view, download videos or install video players.
-
The videos are silent. This allows you as the presenter to customize a description to the audience viewing the video.
Here is some guidance for downloading and saving the videos below:
-
Choose the movie format that works best with your computer software or operating system.
-
The dimension of the image is related to the amount of information in the file. The larger the dimensions of the movie image, the more information and the larger the file size.
-
Once the video is downloaded and saved to a disc, use the quality of video you select as part of a powerpoint or other type of presentation.
-
It is difficult to give universal instructions on how to download and save a video file as the process varies by computer operating system and browser software.
-
In Internet Explorer, when you select a link to a video, you as the user have several options. Within in an information window, the browser creates the option to play, download, or save the video file.
-
In Firefox (in both Mac & Windows versions), simply "right click" or "option click" ("control click" on the Mac) to see a dialog box that allows you to download and save the file to your computer.
-
In Safari (in both Mac & Windows versions), simply "right click" or "option click" ("control click" on the Mac) to see a dialog box that allows you to download and save the file to your computer.

Ride Safe Presentation (English Version) Ride Safe Presentation (Spanish Version) - this is a broad purpose presentation on wheelchair transportation safety that takes about 30-40 minutes to deliver. It covers the issues of 4-point wheelchair securement, 3-point occupant safety restraint, the use of a WC19 compliant wheelchair. It also discusses best practices with a non-WC19 compliant wheelchair. The PowerPoint presentation includes complete notes pages to support the individual delivering this presentation.
